Yes. Referrals can assist us with a well-organised management plan in collaboration with your referring practitioner. A referral can come from your General or Specialist Dentist, General Medical Practitioner or other Allied Health Professional. In addition, having a referral is essential in receiving a Medicare rebate for your consultation.

Consultations and treatment bookings are generally separate appointments. We can however, plan treatment after a consultation for certain cases. It will be necessary to discuss your needs with our staff at the time of booking of your appointment so this can be taken into consideration.

This will depend if your procedure will require a local or, in more difficult cases, a general anaesthetic. Your options will be discussed with you at your consultation appointment.

There are typically three components to fees for treatment. The procedure fee, the anaesthetic fee, and the hospital fee.

  • The procedure fee is what we charge to provide the surgery. If you have private health insurance, then you may receive a rebate from your health fund. At your consultation, we are able to provide the ADA item numbers so that you can contact your health fund to determine the rebate prior to your procedure.
  • Less difficult procedures can be performed under local anaesthetic (numbing injections) in our clinic. More complex procedures or nervous patients can be treated under general anaesthetic. This is done by a specialist anaesthetist, who will have their own fees which typically have a Medicare rebate. We will provide you with details for you to obtain a quote in advance.
  • If your treatment is in a private hospital, there will be a fee from the hospital. In most cases your private health insurance will cover the cost of your hospital admission (the excess payable is determined by your health fund). If you do not have insurance, then the hospital will charge you a fee for the use of their facilities. This fee is set by the hospital and varies between different health funds and locations. We will provide you with details to contact the hospital in advance to obtain a quote for this.

If you have private health insurance, then you may receive a rebate from your health fund. We are able to provide the procedure item numbers at your consultation so that you can contact your health fund to determine the rebate prior to your procedure.

Yes, treatment is available to patients whether they hold insurance or not. You will be provided with a quotation for our surgical fees at the consultation. We will also provide contact information of both the hospital and anaesthetist so that you can contact them directly for a quotation for any associated fees.

Our specialist consultation fee will be eligible for a Medicare rebate if you have a current referral from your dentist or doctor. Medicare will also provide a partial rebate for your anaesthetic fee if you are receiving a general anaesthetic. There are also some non-dental procedures that Medicare will partially cover, including – removal of jaw cysts/tumours, bone grafting, sinus lift surgery, and biopsy of oral lesions.
